U
rsula Naidoo joined the EY Africa team in 2015 as a talent manager and is a co-host on radio shows 180 Drive and Siloam Live. The latter profession helped her overcome her introversion just enough to succeed at the former.

EY: Tell us more about your current role at EY Africa.

Ursula: As Talent Manager at EY, I manage the full employee lifecycle. In 2020, I started co-hosting an online community radio station reaching people around the world. Here I’ve had the opportunity to cover topics that have inspired me and others, across nations, gender, ethnicity, the list goes on…

The radio co-host role challenged me to speak out and to large audiences whereas this was always a fear for me at work. I am now confident I can do this! This also gave me the opportunity to MC the Africa EY Day to over 3000 EY’ers (EY’er – our loving term for the people of EY).

My radio co-host role enables me as a Talent Manager to be more vocal and articulate in my day job, this was a bit of a challenge since I am an introvert by nature! I am also able to contribute to my community on the East Rand as well as online communities by sharing the good, the bad and the ugly!

EY: What is the toughest but most rewarding part of your job and your passion for broadcasting?

Ursula: As a Talent Manager of EY Africa, it’s seeing and feeling the satisfaction that people feel once you have helped them. And as a radio host, it is being relevant to at least one person, touching their life and changing their perspective or making an impression.

Advice to my younger self: “Study, learn, grow as much as possible while you’re still young!”
