On 10 February 2022, the Corporations Amendment (Meetings and Documents) Bill 2021 (Corporations Bill) (available here) passed both Houses of the Australian Parliament. Passage of the bill makes permanent the reform on electronic signing under section 126 and section 127 of the Corporations Act for Australian corporations, and also makes permanent the reform on hybrid and virtual meetings. Though this bill does not include all legal documents nor all legal entities, it remains a significant change for Australia in adapting to the digital age. Royal Assent of the Bill is expected in the coming days.
