EY strengthens Irish partnership with new appointments

EY strengthens its Irish firm with the admission of 10 new Equity Partners, bringing the total number in the Irish partnership to 89.

Six of the 10 new Partners have been promoted from within EY, while a further four have been recruited from the market, across various specialisms.

Ferga Kane and Alan O’Brien have been admitted to the partnership within the firm’s Strategy and Transactions (Strategy and Transactions) practice; Carol Murphy and Dermot Keegan within Advisory; Patrick O’Driscoll and Danny Buckley within Assurance; and Deirdre Hogan and Peadar Andrews within Tax. The firm’s growing Irish People Advisory Services (PAS) practice is bolstered by the addition of Michael Rooney and Jackie Gilmore. Shaun Doherty was also admitted to the partnership within the EY EMEIA People Advisory Services team in 2018.

About our new partners

Ferga Kane (Strategy and Transactions) focuses on Government & Infrastructure Advisory. She has extensive experience advising public and private sector clients on the development and financing of large infrastructure projects across a wide range of sectors. Ferga also advises on complex financial modelling development and review assignments for public, private and banking sector clients.

Alan O’Brien (Strategy and Transactions) leads the Strategy and Transactions financial services team, with extensive market knowledge across aviation finance, banking, wealth management and insurance. Prior to joining EY he was a director in the transactions support unit of KPMG, advising domestic and international banking, wealth management and private equity clients across a range of acquisitions, disposals and broader advisory projects.

Carol Murphy (Advisory) has been with EY more than five years. She leads a number of the firm’s technology and risk consulting services including cybersecurity, data protection and privacy, and programme risk management for utilities, government, health, life sciences, manufacturing, technology, retail and consumer clients.

Dermot Keegan (Advisory) joins as partner within the Performance Improvement (PI) team, specialising in financial services. Dermot is a management accountant with 15 years’ experience in management consulting, leading a wide range of programmes within the retail banking sector with specific focus on the finance and risk domain. He is a specialist in programme initiation including roadmap and business case development, programme mobilisation and management.

Patrick O’Driscoll (Assurance) has been with EY for more than 12 years, working within the Assurance practice specialising in financial services and has extensive experience providing audit and other assurance services to a variety of Irish and international companies. Pat focuses on serving our Aviation Finance Clients reporting under both IFRS and US GAAP. Pat also has significant capital markets experience having assisted many of our clients raising both debt and equity through various types of capital markets transactions. 

Danny Buckley (Assurance) leads the firm’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services team for financial services companies based in Ireland, partnering with CFOs and finance teams to deliver on their demanding agendas. Prior to joining EY, Danny held a number of senior finance positions in Bank of Ireland, including Head of Capital Investment, Finance Director for the Corporate and Treasury Division and most recently Head of Commercial Partnering for the Irish Divisions of Bank of Ireland.

Deirdre Hogan (Tax) started her career with EY in Dublin and has spent the past five years in the firm’s San Francisco office advising leading multinational companies. Since returning to Ireland, she leads the Indirect Tax team.  Deirdre has a wealth of experience in international VAT and GST matters, including complex supply chain structures, process and controls analysis, ERP implementations and global compliance and reporting.

Peadar Andrews (Tax) has more than 19 years’ experience in the area of corporate tax and joins from Bank of Ireland Group where he was the Head of Group Finance. Having joined EY he is now focusing on the Irish plc market sector within the business tax advisory team.

Jackie Gilmore (People Advisory Services): Prior to joining EY, Jackie was a leader within the Human Capital Practice of Deloitte where she held lead roles on a number of transformation and leadership programmes in the private and financial services sectors. Having joined EY, her role is to help drive the growth of the People Advisory practice in Ireland. Key specialisms include: organisation design, change management, talent management, leadership development, communication strategy and planning.

Michael Rooney (People Advisory Services) led the People Services business and was the Head of Global Mobility for KPMG in Ireland for the last four years prior to joining EY. Michael led a number of significant client relationships with Irish plc and multinational clients headquartered in Ireland, advising on their domestic Irish and international employment tax, immigration and payroll issues. Having joined EY, he is now helping to lead the EY Ireland mobility team.

Shaun Doherty (People Advisory Services) has more than 18 years’ experience in the area of SAP consulting and is a Centre of Excellence People Advisory Services Partner leading EY’s SAP SuccessFactors practice in EMEIA. Primarily focused on the UK and Global, Shaun is based mainly in the Dublin office.
