EY announces 13 new Equity Partners

DUBLIN, 01 JULY 2021: EY is delighted to announce 13 new Equity Partners bringing the total number of Partners in EY across the island of Ireland to 103.

Dublin, 01 July 2021: EY is delighted to announce 13 new Equity Partners bringing the total number of Partners in EY across the island of Ireland to 103.

Eleven of the thirteen new Partners have been admitted to the partnership from within EY, while a further two are direct admit Partners.

  • Katie Burns joins the partnership from EY’s Consulting practice and leads the firm’s Business Consulting Finance Transformation Team, while Katie Flood joins the partnership from the same practice, leading the Transformation Execution Team.
  • Gareth Kelly (Assurance), based in Belfast, and John Ward (Consulting), based in Dublin, join the partnership as part of EY’s growing Data Analytics and Emerging Technology Team. John is Head of Digital & Emerging Technology for the firm.
  • Alan Murphy has joined EY as Head of Law as an external admit Partner.
  • Aileen Daly joins the partnership from the firm’s Tax practice, based in Cork, while Petrina Smyth joins from Financial Services Tax.
  • Two new Partners join the partnership from Financial Services Assurance: Dean Phillips and Niamh O’Shaughnessy.
  • Lindsay Russell joins the partnership from EY’s Assurance practice where she leads the firm’s Audit Centre of Excellence Team in Belfast, while Louise Whyte also joins the partnership from EY’s Assurance practice.
  • Mark Chalmers joins as an external admit Partner into EY’s Consulting practice and the firm’s Life Sciences Commercial Access Team.
  • Ian Kelly joins the Partnership from EY’s Strategy and Transactions practice and is based in Belfast, specialising in due diligence.

Katie Burns has been admitted as Partner in Consulting, leading the firm’s business consulting finance transformation team. She specialises in large scale finance transformation programmes and has experience across a wide range of industries.  Katie has extensive experience of finance operating model design, global business services, digital finance and enterprise performance management.

Katie Flood has been admitted as Partner in Consulting and leads EY’s Transformation Execution Team. Working with the Business Consulting team, she supports clients to shape, mobilise and deliver major transformation programmes in Ireland. Katie has a depth of experience working with retail utilities to help transform operational delivery and reduce costs.

Gareth Kelly has been admitted as Partner in EY’s Data Analytics and Emerging Technology team. In his role, Gareth manages a team of over 150 analytics professionals operating across all industry sectors. Experienced in external audit, he helps lead the EY Audit Centre of Excellence and works with a large team, supporting innovation and statutory audit transformation through the implementation of data and analytic technologies.

John Ward has been admitted as Partner in EY’s Technology Consulting team. With over 20 years’ experience in software delivery, he is Head of Digital & Emerging Technology for EY. Focused on the cutting edge of innovative software architecture and development, John’s skills pan a number of areas such as digital channels, systems integration, intelligent automation, artificial intelligence and cloud-based platform delivery and management.

Alan Murphy has joined EY as a Partner and Head of Law. He is an experienced legal professional with almost 30 years’ experience in commercial law. Alan joins from Eversheds Sutherland Ireland where he was most recently the Managing Partner, served as Chair of the firm’s European offices and was a member of its Global Board.

Aileen Daly has been admitted as Partner in Tax. She specialises in designing and implementing innovative solutions for both domestic and international groups including IP planning, group reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions as well as tax efficient holding and financing structures.

Petrina Smyth has been admitted as Partner in Financial Services Tax. She has more than 15 years’ experience advising international financial institutions, investment funds and leasing companies on taxation, with a focus on structured finance transactions and asset leasing, in particular aircraft leasing. Her experience includes advising on the establishment and financing of aircraft leasing structures and aircraft investment platforms and on the disposal and acquisition of aircraft portfolios.

Dean Phillips has been admitted as Partner in Financial Services Assurance, where he provides assurance and advisory services for EY’s wealth & asset management clients. With over 16 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to the Wealth and Asset Management sector, he has extensive knowledge of the sector and works with global and boutique asset managers, alternative fund products and fund service providers based in EMEIA, the U.S. and Asia.

Niamh O’Shaughnessy has been admitted as Partner in Financial Services Assurance. She provides assurance services to clients in both the Irish and international insurance and banking sectors. Niamh has over 15 years’ experience working in financial services, particularly leading large teams to deliver financial statement audits and other assurance engagements.

Lindsay Russell has been admitted as Partner in EY’s Assurance practice. Lindsay has over 15 years’ experience delivering audits and currently serves many companies in the local NI and regional UK markets, as well as UK subsidiaries of large multinational companies. Lindsay also leads the EY Audit Centre of Excellence team in Belfast which specialises in delivering audits to UK subsidiaries of some of the largest global clients of EY. 

Louise Whyte has also been admitted as Partner in EY’s Assurance practice. Louise specialises in delivering international audits to Irish public companies and Irish based multinational groups and has extensive experience in the area of internal control over financial reporting, and in delivering innovative audit solutions to her clients.

Mark Chalmers joins EY as Partner in the firm’s Life Sciences Commercial Access team, where he specialises in global commercial and launch strategy, including international pricing and market access for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Mark has global experience of healthcare systems and health technology assessment, with a deep knowledge of oncology, immunology, rare diseases, Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and cell and gene-based therapies.

Ian Kelly has been admitted as Partner in EY’s Strategy and Transactions practice. He specialises in transaction diligence and has extensive experience in a full range of financial due diligence services including buy and sell side due diligence, refinancing due diligence, stock exchange transactions and independent business reviews.
