EY has been recognized as a worldwide leader in industrial security consulting and managed services by Westlands Advisory, in the Industrial Security Consulting & Managed Services Navigator 2022. The report highlighted the experience and skills that EY teams have in deploying complex operational technology (OT) change programs within energy and resources organizations.

Westlands Advisory evaluated organizations providing OT consulting services. Their findings highlighted the EY organization’s ability to roll-out OT transformation programs across multiple sites and geographies, managing the cybersecurity lifecycle from the identify to protect phase, to detection, response and recovery. EY cybersecurity services are based on a Security by Design approach, and a focus on establishing trust in systems, design and data, collaborating with customers to help them transform operations safely and securely.

Clinton Firth, EY Global Energy & Resources Cybersecurity Leader, says:

“Energy and resources companies are rapidly accelerating their digital transformation journeys to modernize infrastructure, introduce cost and operational efficiencies, and build new revenue streams in an evolving market. In doing so, they are exposing their critical infrastructure to significant cyber risks. It is great to see EY named a leader by Westlands Advisory for EY teams’ work in supporting organizations to build the cybersecurity resilience needed to protect these critical energy infrastructure assets. This recognition is testament to the 12,400 security and risk practitioners across EY teams, who have worked on over 500 OT-related projects, helping organizations manage both current and future cybersecurity risks and providing flexible options to a business’s OT cyber maturity.”

Piotr Ciepiela, EY Global & EMEIA Cyber Architecture Leader, says:

“EY teams are trusted OT security advisors and I believe this recognition is further validation of the EY Security by Design approach. I could not be prouder of the team who helped realize this fantastic recognition on behalf of the whole EY organization.”

Steven Webb, Managing Partner at Westlands Advisory, says:

“Westlands Advisory’s latest analysis is the result of over 24 months of ongoing work assessing the current state of OT cybersecurity and evaluating future scenarios. In our many discussions with industrial operators, service providers, and technology vendors, there is a consensus that many industrial organisations are only in the very early stages of their IT/OT security program, somewhere between ‘developing’ and ‘intermediate’. Many typical industrial operators lack a companywide cybersecurity policy and are not proactively monitoring OT threats, so we would recommend identifying an outside service provider specific to their needs.

The EY organization is regarded as among the most capable of all the organizations at helping clients with planning, implementing and managing an end-to-end OT security approach. This includes working with customers at the start of their security journey, providing risk advisory and cyber strategy development, to management of the security operation.”
