EY today announces the appointment of Serge Colle as the new EY Global Energy & Resources (E&R) Industry Leader, which includes the mining & metals, oil & gas and power & utilities sectors.

Serge has been the EY Global Power & Utilities Sector Leader since July 2020, a role he will continue to hold. During this time, he has made a significant impact at both a sector and industry market level, including driving forward the EY Global E&R solutions agenda and, in particular, helping to accelerate the EY eMobility and Global Renewables cross-sector solutions. Prior to this, Serge served as EY Global Energy Advisory Leader, during which he helped the EY organization build its position as a leading advisor to the industry.

In his new role, Serge will be responsible for driving the EY E&R strategy, leading a team of more than 30,000 industry professionals worldwide. He will continue to work with clients globally to help them capture value from an accelerated energy transition, build resilience against the disruption facing the industry and leverage innovative solutions that can help unlock the opportunities of an uncertain future.

Colle succeeds Gavin Rennie, who has served as interim EY Global E&R Leader since July 2020. Rennie will revert to his former role as EY Global Energy & Resources Emerging Markets Leader.

Andres Saenz, EY Global Vice Chair - Industry, says:

“The energy and resources industry is experiencing unprecedented disruption and transformation driven by social, technological, economic, environmental and political forces. The changing energy mix and demand, regulatory impacts due to the climate change agenda and the COVID-19 pandemic further add to the complexity and uncertainty for clients. Serge brings the ideal combination of proven leadership ability, commitment and knowledge of the industry that will enhance the value EY teams bring to energy and resources companies around the world.”

Colle comes to the role with broad and vast business transformation experience having worked in consulting for over three decades, much of which time has been spent within the power and utilities sector at the intersection of strategy, technology and industry. Throughout his career, Colle has managed consulting practices in Europe, Africa and Latin America, working across the utilities value chain. He frequently speaks at events on the industry and related energy transition matters.

Serge Colle, EY Global Energy & Resources Leader, says:

“Ambitious action is required over the next decade to capture the value of an accelerated energy transition, and while this creates vast opportunities, many challenges still need to be addressed. Energy and resources companies need to balance the duality of remaining competitive in today’s world, while positioning themselves for future success. By anticipating disruption and creating resiliency, energy and resources companies can create competitive advantage, protect their core business and benefit from investment and revenue growth as they accelerate the energy transition. I am committed to overseeing innovative, experienced and agile EY teams to help clients reshape the future, seize the opportunities of the new energy landscape and ultimately create a better working world.”
