To thrive in the legal cannabis sector, licensed producers need to take calculated risks and push boundaries if they want to establish themselves as competitive players.

Monica Chadha

EY Canada National Cannabis Leader

Defining success in an undefined industry. Passionate about travelling, baking and spending time with my twin girls.

In a career spanning more than 20 years both on the front lines of a retailer and as an advisor to retail and consumer products companies, Monica has a passion for the sector and a wealth of experience.

This deep retail experience has positioned Monica well to serve clients in Canada’s emerging cannabis sector as EY Canada’s National Cannabis Leader. While the industry may be relatively new, the opportunities and challenges it faces have much in common with the retail and consumer products sector. Monica advises license stakeholders and affiliates on IPO readiness, governance, risk management, process design/implementation, M&A, change management and capital project management.

Monica’s also the leader of EY’s Central Canada Retail and Consumer Products advisory practice, advising companies on a wide range of opportunities to optimize their business and stay competitive in a globalized environment. She also held an interim executive role with a global retailer for several years.

How Monica is building a better working world

“As the cannabis market continues to establish roots in Canada, I’m helping industry stakeholders navigate this new sector of the formal economy. I’m committed to defining a framework for companies and investors to safely and confidently produce, distribute and sell cannabis for recreational purposes in Canada. In turn, we hope to inspire and educate emerging markets, and mitigate risk on a global scale.”
