Pascal Schär, Director Technology and Innovation/CIO of the Insel Group, and Guru Sivaraman, Director ICT/CIO of the University Hospital Zurich USZ, have been named the best IT managers of 2022. "With their performance, the two CIOs show how innovative the Swiss healthcare sector can be when it comes to digital transformation," says the chairman of the Confare Swiss CIO Awards jury, Jan Leitermann, Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at EY in Switzerland. "Pascal Schär and Guru Sivaraman are modernizing and changing structures, and have put the well-being of patients at the center," Leitermann adds, ranking this achievement: "Two years of pandemic have shown how important the work of CIOs and their staff is in fostering the enormous innovation potential of digital technologies in companies." Schär and Sivaranam have continued on this path, he said, even in times of immense additional workload for hospitals due to the COVID crisis. "This makes them leaders not only in the Swiss market, but also on an international level," says Leitermann.

Other winners to receive the Top CIO of the Year award included the following: Hansruedi Born, CIO at the Chief Information Office of the Canton of Zurich, and Fabian Ringwald, CIO at SWICA. "We received many excellent applications for this year's Confare Swiss CIO Award. Through initiatives like this, we can make the relevance of new technologies visible to a broad public and thus help CIOs enormously on their way and value their achievements. I am therefore very pleased to be able to support the Confare Swiss CIO Award," says jury chairman Leitermann.
