EY Ireland Establishes New Geopolitical Strategy Unit to Advise Clients on Navigating Unprecedented Global Volatility

EY Ireland Establishes New Geopolitical Strategy Unit

Dublin, 01 April 2025: EY Ireland announces that it is establishing a new Geopolitical Strategy Unit to advise clients on how best to navigate unprecedented global volatility. The Geopolitical Strategy Unit, which will be headed by EY Ireland Partners Simon MacAllister (corporate finance) and Aidan Meagher (taxation), will provide a unique offering to clients across the island of Ireland.

Successfully navigating this era of heightened geopolitical complexity requires designing and implementing a geostrategy — the broad and cross-functional integration of political risk management into risk management, strategy and governance.

EY Ireland Managing Partner Frank O’Keeffe says, “As our clients continue to deal with global market volatility and a rapidly changing new world order, we are experiencing growing demand for our support in areas such as international tax, debt restructuring, supply chain optimisation, cost takeout, law, strategy and risk. Our clients are actively anticipating the impact of political risk as they prepare for disruption the extent of which is, to a large extent, dependent on the industry, geographic footprint, size and market.

“Over the coming months Simon, Aidan and our wider EY Geopolitical Strategy global team will continue to be very active with clients - both indigenous companies and multinational organisations located here - as they navigate these unprecedented times, adjust their strategies in real-time and explore and advance ‘no regret’ decisions while they shape the future with confidence.”

Aidan Meagher is a Partner in EY Ireland’s Tax Practice, where he advises clients on a broad range of international tax issues across a range of sectors. In his role he advises both multinational and indigenous companies on the establishment of tax-efficient supply chain management and intellectual property ownership structures.

Simon MacAllister is a Partner in the EY Ireland Strategy and Transactions team, where he leads the Valuation, Modelling and Economics practice. He provides commercially-focused advice to public and private clients internationally and across Ireland, including valuations, investment cases, economic forecasting and impact studies. He is EY Ireland’s Brexit Lead.
