Celebrating Cultural Diversity at EY

The All In Mentoring program is a six‑month initiative designed to foster a stronger sense of belonging and inclusiveness across the organisation. The program pairs experienced leaders with employees in a supportive mentoring relationship focused on career development, sharing perspectives, and building confidence. It aims to help participants navigate challenges, access new opportunities, and develop the skills and networks needed to thrive, while also strengthening a diverse pipeline of future leaders who reflect the EY communities we serve.

Beyond individual development, the program is intentionally structured to address inequities in access to support, visibility, and opportunity that can emerge over time in the workplace. Through guided conversations, monthly learning prompts, and a focus on mutual trust, mentors and mentees explore topics such as identity, wellbeing, career growth, and allyship. The program also creates space for reverse mentoring, enabling leaders to gain deeper insights into lived experiences and become more effective advocates for inclusion, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and inclusive workplace culture.

Your culture. Our strength.

At EY, we recognize that our strength lies in the rich tapestry of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives that our people bring to the table. Celebrating and supporting cultural diversity is not just a priority—it's a fundamental part of who we are. By fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected, we drive innovation, enhance collaboration, and create a workplace where every individual can thrive.

Here are some ways we support cultural diversity in the workplace:

Cultural Diversity Network

Our Cultural Diversity Network, with over 1,000 members, is dedicated to increasing awareness and celebrating our diverse backgrounds. In addition to running initiatives that honour and share the various cultural and religious practices that are essential to our people’s identities, Cultural Diversity Network also offers opportunities for professional development and career progression to our members. By acknowledging and celebrating these practices, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and ensure everyone feels valued and respected.

Cultural Census

At EY Oceania, our Cultural Census and Self-ID initiatives help us better understand the rich diversity of backgrounds, languages and lived experiences across our workforce. This data is collected confidentially and voluntarily and is used to identify gaps in representation, it helps to shape inclusive strategies and allows us to track progress against our targets, including increasing culturally and linguistically diverse representation in leadership.

What our people tell us

The All in Mentoring program has been invaluable to my journey at EY. As a mentee, I’ve had two mentors with completely different experiences and cultural backgrounds, which gave me diverse perspectives. Our regular catch-ups have provided honest discussions, advice, and lessons that have had a huge positive impact. One of the greatest benefits is gaining objective insights from people outside your day-to-day work. Now, as a mentor, I enjoy helping others navigate challenges and seize opportunities. A common challenge is feeling culturally different from peers. My advice: embrace your cultural uniqueness as a superpower that brings fresh ideas to the table, rather than seeing it as something that excludes you.

When I first heard about the Mentoring Program, I was curious and eager to join, even though I didn’t have a complete picture of what to expect. Looking back, I’m so glad I signed up because it turned out to be an incredibly enriching experience. My mentor, James Kara, was highly supportive, drawing on his own culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background. His guidance helped me settle in, navigate career growth, and overcome onboarding challenges. Our regular coffee catchups were invaluable for discussing progress and concerns.
