Supporting trans and gender diverse candidates through EY’s recruitment process

We understand it can be daunting for candidates to disclose their LGBTQ+ identity when applying for a job, especially if they’re gender diverse. EY fully supports people to bring their whole selves to work, but if you would like to talk to someone specifically about how your sexual orientation or gender identity will be handled through the recruitment process, please contact InclusiveRecruitment@au.ey.com.

LGBTQ+ Inclusive Policies

At EY, we ensure all our policies protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and our benefits packages provide same‑sex partnerships with the same rights as all others. Our policies and benefits apply an inclusive lens to ensure equity for all EY employees.

Unity

Unity is the EY organisation’s global network for LGBTQ+ EY and their allies. In Oceania, Unity focuses on fostering inclusion and belonging, embedding equity by design across policies and practices, and shaping conversations internally and externally. Through advocacy, education, ally activation and community engagement, Unity works to support LGBTQ+ people to thrive at EY while advancing a more inclusive culture for everyone.

EY is proudly listed as a 2025 Platinum Employer at the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Awards.

A practical pathway to LGBTQ+ inclusion

Leaders play a critical role in shaping an environment where LGBTQ+ people feel respected, supported and able to thrive. This report shares what we have learnt from our employees and partners on LGBTQ+ inclusion. It offers a practical pathway that other organisations can adopt: Signals → Engagement → Safety → Belonging.

She Starts Out

Our dedicated program to support LGBTQ+ women social impact entrepreneurs through mentoring and business clinics. EY people demonstrate their allyship to this community by contributing their time, skills and experience through the EY Ripples program.

Pride in Practice

Since 2024, the EY organisation has been honoured to present at the Pride in Practice conference, Australia’s national conference dedicated to LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. In 2024, we delivered “LGBT‑Q and A’s on Data Collection in Inclusion Interventions,” sharing our approach to LGBTQ+ data collection, intersectionality, and using data to inform inclusive strategies. In 2025, we presented “Pride on a Shoestring: Big Impact Without the Spend,” highlighting how grassroots, low‑ and no‑cost initiatives across Oceania can drive meaningful inclusion, while challenging assumptions that higher spend always leads to greater impact.

I’ve been with the EY organisation for many years and have always found it to be the   workplace where I have felt most able to be myself, and that is largely down to the role played by LGBTQ+ allies.     At the EY organisation, we talk a lot about building a better working world. For people from the LGBTQ+ community, that starts with being able to bring their whole selves to work without fear. Allyship is how we make that possible. It’s listening with   curiosity, challenging bias when we see it, and standing beside our colleagues — not just when it’s easy, but when it matters most.
