Creating flourishing communities

Planting trees in Canadian cities. Climbing the CN Tower in Toronto to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund. Collecting data on municipal traction on environmental issues for Climate Reality Project Canada. At EY, our Eco-Innovators are continuously seeking out ways to join forces with community groups and address climate change collaboratively.

Offering a taste of plant-based eating

Turning January into Veganuary, each year our Eco-Innovators launch a national campaign to help EY people understand how our food choices affect health and the environment. Throughout the month, over 930 EY people engaged in learning events and challenges that encouraged plant-based eating, with teams offering vegan tastings that span sushi, smoothies and more.

Collaborating to divert electronic waste

Working with Earth Day Canada, Eco-Innovators across our 16 offices ran campaigns to collect and divert more than 1,000 lbs of electronic waste from Canadian landfills.

Encouraging a greener commute

In collaboration with Earth Day Canada, our Eco-Innovators rallied 100 EY participants in a sustainable mobility challenge. This initiative logged 830 sustainable commutes, from bike rides to carpools to public transit, dialling down our collective C02 emissions by 2 tonnes.

Exploring new economic models

During our Transforming Economies for a Sustainable Future campaign, EY people learned about sustainable finance projects and trends and alternative models like the Doughnut Economic model.

We’ve been gaining momentum with eco-friendly initiatives such as Veganuary to encourage positive sustainable changes. Collaborating with local businesses, getting support from stakeholders and having enthusiastic team participation are propelling us forward.

I help structure our sustainability practices around diverse voices and experiences, fostering open dialogue and remaining committed to education and accessibility as part of Eco-Innovators. In doing so, we ensure that our sustainability efforts are truly inclusive with far-reaching and meaningful impact.
