UK & Ireland environmental credentials
At EY we are committed to building a better working world – one that includes sustainable growth. We are recognised by the following standards for our obligation towards our people and the wider communities we operate in to minimise the impact of our business operations on the environment.
EY’s UK operations have been certification to the Carbon Trust Waste Standard since 2014. This provides independent verification of our actions to measure, manage and reduce waste output, year on year.
Our UK Facilities Management function is certified to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 environmental standard by UKAS accredited auditing body Bureau Veritas. We intend to work towards certification in the Republic of Ireland in the future.
Since 2010 EY’s UK operations have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, which recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous independent assessment, it certifies that we have measured, managed and reduced carbon emissions across our operations, and are committed to reducing them year on year.

United Nations Global Compact: EY has been a global signatory to the UNGC since 2009. This is a strategic policy initiative for businesses committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles. Read more about the progress we are making in upholding these principles. We have aligned principles 7, 8 and 9 of the UNGC to the environmental requirements of our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Mandatory carbon reporting: We were a full participant in the Carbon Reporting Energy Efficient Scheme (CRC) until its closure in 2019. We are ESOS compliant and also report our environmental performance in line with the requirements of the Limited Liability Partnerships (Energy and Carbon Report) Regulations 2018.
