Entrepreneur of the year Sherry Coutu

Like many unstoppable entrepreneurs, Sherry Coutu CBE has the ambition to make a difference. A serial entrepreneur and angel investor, she serves on the boards of companies, charities, and universities. Sherry first became an angel investor in 2000 and since then has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs.

With more than 60 angel investments, three IPOs, and numerous JV's and acquisitions behind her, Sherry has extensive experience in helping early and mid-stage companies achieve their goals.

She chairs or has chaired Founders4Schools, Workfinder, Raspberry Pi (Trading), Digital Boost and the Scaleup Institute. Founded by Sherry in 2011, Founders4Schools now supports nearly 290,000 students in the UK, helping them understand their future options, motivating them to succeed and equipping them to lead enterprising lives.

Alongside this, Sherry serves as a non-executive Director of Pearson plc, DCMS, and as a Trustee of Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Sherry has an MBA from Harvard, an MSc (with distinction) from the London School of Economics, and a BA (Hons with distinction) from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

She has also been awarded Honorary PhDs from The University of Bristol, Manchester University and The Open University for her extensive work in education and the economy.

She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to entrepreneurship in the New Year's Honours List 2013.
