What the future holds for corporate governance and audit reforms

In this webcast on Monday 29 March, 15:00-16:00 BST, the panel discuss the long-awaited consultation from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy on proposed reforms to corporate governance and audit in the UK.

Over the last few years, we have seen extensive regulatory change in the UK and EU market. The implications of the proposed reforms to corporate governance and audit are expected to be far-reaching, and their collective impact long-lasting. They will affect both the current and future generations of directors and auditors, across all industry sectors and local authorities in the UK.

The proposals derive from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) which has outlined transformation plans to transition into the new Audit, Reporting & Governance Authority (ARGA) as part of the overhaul.

To discuss the reforms and their impact, we are delighted to be joined by Sir Jon Thompson, CEO, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), Margaret Ewing, Independent Non-Executive Director and Audit and Risk Committee Chair, and Hywel Ball,  UK Chair and UK&I Regional Managing Partner, EY.

Topics discussed include:
  • The proposed reforms to corporate governance and audit
  • The impact of these reforms on businesses
  • What actions boards will need to take
