EY-ROAM is a leading provider of electricity market modelling services in Australia. As a part of this team, you’ll help drive a sustainable energy future by providing market-leading, evidence-based insights to help organisations navigate the energy transition.

The team utilises a combination of advanced energy market modelling, power systems analysis and data analytics services to provide value to our clients.

Clients include governments, network service providers, investors, generators, consumers, and market operators and regulators.

 
 

What could you be doing?

  • Model the development of electricity markets under different scenarios to advise governments on the potential impact of different policies, schemes or events
  • Assess the cost benefits of potential electricity transmission and distribution network augmentations
  • Forecast financial outcomes and emissions for existing and proposed generation, storage and electricity users
  • Develop and maintain proprietary software, modelling tools and datasets

EY-ROAM’s leading energy market modelling services and evidence-based insights enable clients to make more informed decisions with respect to a variety of key market factors, including:

  • The development of government policy including reliability requirements, emissions reduction targets and renewable energy targets
  • Appropriate market settings such as price caps/thresholds
  • The revision of market rules and regulations
  • The development of new transmission infrastructure
  • The financing of solar farms, wind farms, batteries and pump-hydro systems
  • The operational and bidding strategies for generators in the market
  • The value to ascribe to physical and financial assets for transactions and regulatory reporting

  • Qualifications

    EY-ROAM looks for students with a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in any STEM field.


    Roughly a third of our team have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. The rest of the team have a variety of higher education backgrounds including Mathematics, Science, Engineering (Computer, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical), Statistics, Commerce, Economics, Business and Information Technology. Many team members have dual bachelor’s degrees and have also completed a masters and/or a doctorate.

Your career journey in EY-ROAM

As a graduate, you’ll be part of our 12-month graduate development program that has been developed for graduates in all service lines, and is focused on connection, learning and celebration.

The program will provide you with the opportunity to network with your peers from other service lines and geographies. Running in parallel to your technical learning, you will develop leadership skills to become a successful graduate, and as you grow as a transformative leader.

As an EY-ROAM graduate, you’ll work with numerous electricity market stakeholders on projects that will help electricity markets transition to zero emissions. From the engagements they are involved in and the shared knowledge of the team, you’ll develop an understanding of how electricity markets work and the factors that influence the decision making of stakeholders including governments, investors, networks, generators and consumers. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in development events tailored to you and strategy and transaction professionals.

As a vacationer, after our company induction, you’ll start developing an understanding of how our EY-ROAM teams work and will be ready to work alongside teams on real client projects. You’ll meet other new vacationers from your office.

Your buddy and your counsellor will help you learn your way around the organisation, set your goals and plan your development while you’re here. You'll be well looked after with ongoing learning throughout the Vacationer Program with sessions facilitated by our Learning and Development team, Campus Recruitment team and service line specific training. The Vacationer Program is a great way to gain valuable audit experience, skills and networks to start building your career.
