The EY Climate Analytics Platform is an online tool that provides on-demand granular climate-related risk assessments worldwide. It assists private organizations and public institutions in integrating climate change impacts into their strategic decision-making processes while also meeting regulatory and market requirements.
Organizations’ assets, operations and supply chains face ever-increasing physical and transition risks due to climate change. To support business continuity and compliance, organizations should equip themselves to:
Meet regulatory and market requirements such as Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Task force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the European Union Green Taxonomy.
Assess climate-related risks and corresponding vulnerabilities along their supply chains to pave the way for science-based adaptation planning.
Solution benefits
EY Climate Analytics Platform (EY CAP) can assist organizations in steering their business strategy, helping to identify the most material climate risks and assessing their subsequent financial impacts by providing:
On-demand integrated physical and transition climate-related risk metrics
Transparent methodologies for translating physical hazard values and carbon emissions into financial impacts metrics
Comprehensive, thin-scale coverage of hazards, time horizons, scenarios and geographies
Alignment with leading industry standards and regulatory requirements
Climate risk analysis and TCFD alignment
EY CAP supports your assessment of climate-related risks in line with TCFD recommendations. It helps you understand the impacts of physical and transition climate-related risks on your business model and operations.
Solution features and functionality
EY CAP is an innovative, easy-to-use, academic-grade and forward-looking online tool that:
Facilitates a comprehensive assessment of both physical and transition risks
Relies on recognized climate scenarios — International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for physical risks and Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) for transition risks
Provides forward-looking risk assessments up to the year 2100
Covers all geographies with granular spatial resolutions
Covers direct operations as well as upstream supply chains
Matches requirements from regulatory frameworks and market standards
Why EY
EY has been recognized as a leading advisor in climate change consulting services for several years in a row by Verdantix. EY CAP provides access to recognized scientific knowledge backed by third-party certification from Imperial College academics, enriched by our professionals’ experience and deep knowledge of organizations’ expectations.
FAQs
Organizations’ assets, operations and supply chains face ever-increasing physical and transition risks due to climate change. To support business continuity, adapt their business models and ensure continuous regulatory compliance, organizations should equip themselves to:
Meet regulatory and market requirements (CSRD, TCFD, Climate Disclosure Project and EU Green Taxonomy)
Assess climate-related risks and corresponding vulnerabilities to pave the way for science-based adaptation planning
EY CAP can assist you in steering your business strategy, streamlining your risks as you meet your regulatory requirements in light of climate change. It directly covers and integrates major use cases through thematic modules that allow you to assess impacts on:
Your operations and suppliers’ assets and facilities
Variations in commodity yields and optimal geographical distribution of seeding
Disruptions to transport infrastructure and logistics
Revenues affected by increased carbon pricing mechanisms coverage and their intensity
EY CAP analysis provides climate-related risk information to support business strategy through various Excel-ready outputs that are directly downloadable for any user. These outputs contain physical and transition risk indicators for every asset, scenario and time horizon available in the tool.
EY CAP covers all geographies.
Different time horizons have been defined using 30-year timeframes, following best practices in the scientific community.
Historical period
Short-term horizons: 2030 and 2035
Medium-term horizon: 2040
Long-term horizons: 2050 and 2085
Most indicators derived from CMIP platforms are computed under either a 0.25°x 0.25° resolution or a 0.1°x 0.1° resolution.
For compound complex hazards, a very thin-scale resolution is applied, depending on the native datasets underpinning each hazard, ranging from 1 km (e.g., soil erosion) down to 30 meters (flooding).
For transition risks, data is mostly provided at the sector and country levels, but it can also be detailed down to the product-specific level for certain carbon-intensive categories, especially those under Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulations.
EY CAP is based on climate projections sourced from reliable climate models hosted under the CMIP6 initiative. Projections are obtained by selecting outputs for multiple IPCC experiments and scenarios to create a consistent and robust ensemble set that captures all climate sensitivities.
Other specific compound indicators are derived from recognized external databases, such as IBTrACS,1 which tracks tropical cyclones.
