New Centre a hub for robotic process automation service and innovation

EY Canada has launched the first Canada-based EY Global Centre of Excellence for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Service in Halifax. The Centre will offer world-class customizable digital services to companies across the country.

“The EY Centre of Excellence model is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting clients facing complex issues stemming from widespread digital change,” says Jad Shimaly, EY Canada Advisory Services Managing Partner. “Halifax is turning heads as a hub for talent and innovation — and the Centre will continue to fuel this evolution in the Atlantic region.”

Halifax joins a growing list of EY Global Centres of Excellence around the world with unique focuses ranging from cybersecurity and analytics to manufacturing services. Leveraging RPA technology presents an opportunity to businesses of all sizes across all sectors. Introducing automation to back office functions in particular can accelerate business performance.

“Halifax has a wealth of talent and expertise to offer the Canadian business community,” says John Munro, EY Canada IT Advisory Partner in Halifax. “The Centre is an important step in ensuring the prosperity and future growth of the city and the Atlantic region as a tech hot spot.”

The city was chosen based on a long list of attributes, including access to a well-educated and diverse workforce, transportation links to North America and the relatively affordable cost of living.

“What’s perhaps most exciting is the potential to recruit, develop and retain top talent in the region,” says Munro. “We’re focused on creating opportunities for STEM graduates from leading schools that all Canadian businesses can benefit from instead of outsourcing abroad.”

The Centre will employ data scientists, application developers, system architects, project managers and business analysts from a variety of sources, including leading local schools.

The Centre is located at the EY Halifax office at RBC Waterside Centre, 1871 Hollis St. It will nearly double the current EY footprint in Halifax.
