As an EY Canada Partner in our Assurance practice, Valerie has spent over 20 years building a career centered around guiding public energy companies towards transparency through collaboration based auditing.

Valerie's knowledge spans Canadian reporting issuers and SEC registrants from the energy sector. She has a deep understanding of oil and gas and power and utilities sectors and a knack for deconstructing complex accounting issues – from impairment valuations and business combinations to restructuring transactions, energy derivatives valuations, and financial instrument classification – to extract valuable insights from the audit. This enables her to help energy companies mitigate risks and make informed decisions.

Valerie's extensive auditing and accounting standards experience, combined with her deep industry knowledge, enable her to effectively navigate the complex regulatory landscape that oil and gas and power and utilities companies often find themselves in. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant in Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan.
