EY UK environmental credentials
At EY we are committed to ensuring the highest standards of environmental management and performance. We are proud to be recognised by the following organisations for our efforts to minimise the impact of our operations on the environment:
ISO 14001: The facilities management activities of our UK offices are certified to this internationally recognised environmental management standard by the UKAS-accredited auditing body BSI.
Carbon Trust Standard (Carbon): Since 2010 EY’s UK operations have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, which recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous independent assessment, it certifies that we have measured, managed and reduced carbon emissions across our operations, and are committed to reducing them year on year.
Carbon Trust Standard (Waste): EY’s UK operations have been certified since 2014, providing independent verification of our actions to measure, manage and reduce waste, year-on-year.
CDP Supplier Engagement Leader: We are a CDP Supplier Engagement Leader, listed in the top 7% of companies globally who are working with their supply chains on climate change.
CDP Climate Change Response: EY annually submits detailed environmental information to CDP’s Climate Change disclosure programme, which benchmarks responses against thousands of other companies globally. Our 2020 submission was rated as ‘Leadership’ level (A-).
United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)
EY has been a global signatory to the UNGC since 2009. This initiative aligns corporate strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, taking action to advance societal goals. Read more about the progress we are making.
Mandatory carbon reporting: We are Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) compliant and report our environmental performance in line with the UK’s Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting requirements. We were a full participant in the Carbon Reduction Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) until its closure in 2019.
Green Pensions Charter
We are a signatory to the Green Pensions Charter with a net-zero emissions target for our staff pension investments by 2050.
