The UK Government’s recovery strategy and working safely during COVID-19

Following the Prime Minister’s nationwide address, the Government has published two key documents:

  • Our Plan to Rebuild: The UK Government’s COVID-19 recovery strategy. This outlines a phased approach to recovery and a roadmap for lifting the lockdown restrictions. 

  • Working safely during coronavirus (COVID-19). This is guidance for employers to help them get their businesses back up and running, and understand how to make workplaces as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Produced in consultation with industry, the eight guides cover a range of workplaces including offices, shops, construction, factories, restaurants offering takeaways, labs, vehicles and other people’s homes .  

Additionally, the Chancellor has confirmed that the Job Retention Scheme will be extended for an extra four months and from July will have increased flexibility on what it covers.
