EOY Prairies Lifetime Award

Prairies Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence 2026 - Dale Wishewan, Booster Juice

Dale Wishewan: Building a legacy beyond business

Sometimes, nice guys don’t finish last – they quietly build an empire. Alberta’s Dale Wishewan has used his entrepreneurial success as a platform for strengthening communities, creating opportunities for others, supporting causes he’s passionate about and leading with humility.

It began in 1999 with an unlikely vision: selling smoothies and juices during a cold Alberta winter. Wishewan saw an opportunity others had overlooked: offering convenient, great-tasting food that supported a healthier lifestyle.

With no experience in food service or franchising, he left a successful career to open the first Booster Juice location in Sherwood Park, Alberta. In doing so, he challenged the quick-service industry’s assumption that healthier choices couldn’t achieve mass-market scale and pioneered an entirely new category. His single location grew into a scalable business model, with 15 locations in its first year and 50 locations within two years – becoming a Canadian franchise record for growth.

Today, Booster Juice is one of Canada’s most recognizable homegrown brands. The privately held company has 500 stores and a broader menu of wellness-oriented products, while remaining anchored in its original promise of freshness, convenience and nutrition.

Wishewan has demonstrated that sustained success comes from pairing entrepreneurial instinct with operational excellence, product relevance and consistent customer experiences.

His leadership philosophy is central to his longevity. Wishewan credits the company’s strength to exceptional service, a dedicated corporate team and franchise partners he sees as family. His people-first mindset has turned the franchise network into an engine of opportunity, enabling aspiring owners to build businesses, create jobs and establish local roots in communities across Canada.

As an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Prairies Overall Award winner alum and past dedicated program judge, he has continuously celebrated and encouraged the next generation of business builders. Wishewan has helped to shape the Prairies’ and Canada’s entrepreneurial, inspiring others to build boldly and create lasting impact of their own.

Wishewan’s energy extends into hospitality holdings and ownership interests in professional sports — including hockey, baseball and soccer. He’s also known for his generous support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation, humanitarian efforts to assist Ukrainian refugees, sponsorship for families building new lives in Canada and countless acts of ongoing philanthropy and community support.

That commitment reflects his belief in the responsibility that accompanies entrepreneurial success. As he explains, “One of the biggest responsibilities I believe is showing the importance of giving back to communities. It’s a blessing to be fortunate to be in business for yourself and, with the success that might come from it, to help causes that are meaningful to you.”

Wishewan doesn’t measure success by his growth or what’s listed on his balance sheets, but by the lives he touches. This year, he receives the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Prairies Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence for a career that embodies the award’s highest ideals: vision, courage, innovation, resilience, sustained performance, responsible leadership and lasting influence.

He may have transformed a single Alberta storefront into an iconic Canadian company, but his achievements transcend business. Through his Prairies-born brand, Wishewan has gone on to help build a stronger Canada.

He has expanded consumer choice, strengthened Canada’s franchising model, created pathways to ownership and employment, contributed to communities and inspired entrepreneurs to dream bigger. His enduring legacy of leadership, generosity and nation-building is opening doors to possibility and raising others up.
