Build the skills that shape your future

Spectrum line

We follow a skills-based hiring approach, which means we want to understand the skills you've developed and how you can demonstrate them throughout our recruitment process. We're interested in the strengths you've built, how you approach different situations and what helps you thrive.

When thinking about your skills, it can be easy to overlook the ones you use every day. But skills are developed through all kinds of experiences. Whether you've volunteered, been part of a sports team, taken on a leadership role at school or university, pursued a hobby or balanced multiple commitments, you've likely built valuable skills along the way. Take some time to explore the skills we're looking for and hear from our people about how they've developed and transferred them throughout their careers. You might be surprised by how many examples you already have to share.

2026 applications are now closed. 2027 opens soon.

Key skills we look for

Skills are the knowledge and capability you build to confidently navigate the world of work. Through our recruitment process, we take the time to understand your skills because using them not only helps you perform better, but keeps you engaged and motivated. Your skills offer valuable insights into what energises you. Below are the key ones we're looking for.

How skills are assessed through the process

Online assessments

Skills help us to learn about your unique strengths and your potential to thrive in different types of environments. Our skills-led online assessments will help to identify your skills and understand if they align with ours, including our values. We'll also be looking at how you’ll apply them to the world of work.

Skills-led interviews

As part of your assessment journey, we want to hear more from you about your skills. Our skills-led interviews are either virtual or in-person depending on which stage in the process you are at. We’ll ask you a range of questions and you’ll have the chance to tell us how you would use your skills at work. We want to know about how you typically approach different tasks and how you like to work.

Assessment centres

Our assessment centres, known as our EY Experience Days, are designed to see how you work with other people and apply your skills in work-based scenarios. You will have opportunities to showcase a variety of skills in both group and individual activities. This helps us know more about what you’re good at and enjoy doing. At each stage in our process, we are committed to giving you feedback on your skills and some practical advice on how you can develop each skill further.
