Portrait of lavina

Belonging at EY

At EY, we’re fostering a culture of flexibility, wellbeing and belonging for our people. To give you a closer look we spoke to Lavina, a Technology Consultant based in London about her experiences working at EY.

I graduated from Queen Mary University with a degree in Maths in 2017. After graduation, I decided to apply to the graduate programmes at EY and joined in April 2021. I now work as a Business Analyst within the Insurance technology consulting team, focusing on the delivery and implementation of technology platforms. My role involves bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that insurance technology platforms are delivered effectively and provide significant value to our clients.

Outside of work, I love running and open water swimming.

Why EY?

EY is dedicated to making a positive impact on society through various corporate responsibility initiatives, including sustainability efforts and community engagement.

Shaping my future with confidence

EY encourages us to take on leadership roles and responsibilities early in our careers. This hands-on experience in builds confidence and prepares us for future leadership positions.

Learning opportunities

EY offers a wide range of learning opportunities to support the professional development of its people. I have become CIMA certified and am also Guidewire certified (a software used in the insurance industry).

Flexibility

EY recognises the importance of flexibility in the workplace and offers various options to support work-life balance. This includes flexible working hours, hybrid working and support for personal commitments. For example, I was able to complete my marathon training alongside my work commitments thanks to the flexible working arrangements I’d agreed with my manager.

Networks to network

I am part of the Women in Technology Networks to network, helping facilitate and coordinate external events with our sponsors. I get the chance to broaden my network and meet inspiring individuals. I am also part of the running network and neurodiverse network. The neurodiverse network helped me to identify as someone with ADHD.

Supporting others

I’d like to think I help empower the junior team members by pulling them into initiatives, being easily approachable and mentoring them. I try my best to give them confidence and tips to network with the wider team, especially our senior leadership – so I am proud whenever they make a stride at doing so!
