    Tax Technology and Transformation Apprentice

    Tax Technology and Transformation

The world of Financial Services Tax is undergoing a fundamental and long-term evolution as tax authorities globally seek to digitise existing tax regimes. In parallel, they are introducing new, wide ranging, complex and data-intensive tax regulations to increase tax transparency, drive more efficient compliance and insight, and increase tax revenues to fund governmental initiatives.

    Technology in Tax

In our Financial Services (FS) Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) team, we help our clients adapt to this rapidly changing tax landscape through:

    • Data strategy - advising clients on their firm wide data strategy, to enhance their current and future state tax compliance effectiveness.
    • Creating scale, control and efficiency for clients by designing and implementing new operating models for tax and finance that leverage cutting edge technologies.
    • Developing and implementing innovative technology assets to solve our clients specific tax needs.

In FS, we work across many sectors including Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance.

Regardless of sector, our work includes a wide range of tax services to clients covering all aspects of operations, technology, software and data consulting.

    What will you be doing?

    • You'll specialise in Tax Technology. This could involve advising our clients directly on how to implement technology and innovate to address new regulations or business needs. You may equally be working alongside our colleagues outside of TTT to deliver transformation to our clients in other areas of tax (indirect taxes, operational taxes, international taxes etc).
    • You'll be learning new technical skills such as project management, analytical skills, data architecture, data management, business analysis skills, operating model design etc.
    • At the same time, you will develop and practice soft skills such as communication, stakeholder management, written and verbal presentation skills, planning, negotiation and commercial awareness.
    • You will build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and growing your network and market presence.
    • You will build knowledge and expertise about the financial services industry, its participants, how they operate and the tax and finance related challenges that they face.

    • Are you eligible to apply?

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone.

England and Northern Ireland: You will, need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have completed three A-levels or (equivalent e.g. BTEC Nationals) by the time the programme starts.

Scotland: You will need a minimum grade C National 5 (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths and be working towards completing 5 Highers or be working towards a SCQF Level 6/7 by the time the programme starts.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

It is therefore important that you provide us with your top three obtained or accurately predicted A-Levels (or equivalent) as these will be verified and considered as part of the offer process should you be successful. Any drop in grades could jeopardise your offer of employment.
