I am an Assistant Manager in the Cyber and Resilience practice within technology consulting. My job is all about Enterprise Resilience, where I help clients in financial services improve their Operational Resilience programmes, both in the UK and globally. Before joining, I was part of EY Canada's Financial Services Risk Management practice, working on various aspects of Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk and Resilience, and Regulatory Compliance for clients in sectors like BCM, Insurance, and Wealth and Asset Management.
Why EY?
I’m proud to work at EY because of the amazing opportunities for career development and professional growth. I've had the chance to explore different industries, including financial services and healthcare, and I've always felt supported in whatever direction I choose to grow. The environment here is flexible; while I get guidance on how to approach my engagements, I also have the freedom to work in a way that suits my personal style and strengths. This trust and support from my leaders empower me to grow both personally and professionally. Plus, I take pride in the EY commitment to social impact. We're involved in various community service and sustainability initiatives, which lets me contribute to meaningful projects that truly make a difference in society. My involvement in planning for EY Giving Week and participating in EY Ripples where employees engage in volunteer work, support community projects, and initiatives that promote sustainability and social responsibility has been particularly fulfilling.
Shaping my future with confidence
Through working with the UK team, I got the chance to move to London and join their Operational Resilience Team. I was torn because I felt close to my Toronto team and loved the work I was doing, but I knew the industry was a few years ahead in London and there was so much I could learn there in a year, to then move back to Toronto and share with my team. A number of my close peers and leaders all worked together to empower me to make the decision to move to London and join the UK Operational Resilience Team.
I moved to London in September 2023, two years after starting my first Operational Resilience engagement. I was welcomed into the team and kept my relationships with my old team in Canada.
Even though I was supposed to move back to Canada after a year, I've extended my plans many times now because I'm enjoying the work, my team, the connection with the rest of EY, my clients, the opportunities, and overall, my life here in London.
My development
The continuous learning opportunities at EY have been instrumental. The training programmes and the global network of peers have enabled me to stay ahead of industry trends and apply innovative methodologies to my client engagements. The dynamic and supportive environment here encourages both personal and professional development, which has significantly enhanced my technical skills.
