EY has appointed a new Partner, Mark Wardle, to its Private Equity and Capital Transactions (PCT) team as the company continues to solidify its leading position in the $5trn private equity market.

Mark joins EY’s market leading M&A Tax practice, which has seen significant growth in recent years as Private Equity firms continue to invest in UK and international groups across a range of sectors.

Mark will be responsible for accelerating the M&A Tax practice’s growth, working alongside Private Equity firms as well as portfolio companies as they undertake M&A transactions.

Mark joins EY having been a partner for 11 years at a big four competitor. He has extensive experience working with private equity houses and global organisations, helping to build faster deals that drive strategic growth and create greater value throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Jonathan Anderson, EY International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) Co-Leader, commented:

“The private equity sector saw $1 trillion in deal activity last year and EY is ideally positioned to capitalise on a market that remains exceptionally busy. Mark is a very welcome addition to our team and will play a crucial role in maintaining and growing our M&A Tax practice’s industry-leading position during a pivotal time for the private equity industry. Economic turbulence may fuel a rise in distressed assets and a drop in valuations, a combination that has offered ideal deal-marking conditions in the past.”
