A career journey of impact, growth and purpose at EY

Roushab is a director in the Private Capital team based in London. He shares his reasons for joining EY, and how voluntary work forms a big part of his life – both inside and outside of work.

My career journey

I joined EY in 2019 as a manager in the Private Capital team. I was initially attracted to EY due to the opportunity to work with market leaders and challenge myself by working with a wide range of clients from family offices, hedge funds, and private equity firms.

Since joining, my career has developed significantly. I’ve had the privilege of working with high-performing teams that challenge me to excel and innovate, I’ve benefitted from the collaborative culture which has empowered me to lead engagements and build relationships with clients, and I’ve received ample support from colleagues and mentors whenever I’ve needed guidance – providing a balanced environment for growth.

Since being promoted to senior manager in 2021, and Director in October 2025, I specialise in advising high net worth individuals and family offices in the UK and internationally, in navigating the complexities of cross-border taxation, investment structuring, and succession planning.

Working at a global organisation

Working for a global organisation like EY has significantly enhanced my career by providing exposure to diverse markets and cultures.

On a daily basis, I’m able to connect with our global network and tap into the knowledge base of tax professionals across the world, to assist with client queries and provide cross-border solutions.

Being part of a global network has also helped me to expand my professional connections, opening doors for future opportunities and career advancement.

Making a difference

Alongside my professional responsibilities, I am committed to giving back to communities through volunteer and humanitarian work.

Recently, I have worked with a project team to develop and distribute a food bar which addresses the nutritional needs of homeless individuals across the UK. I’m also involved in a community development programme that aims to help people in Africa experiencing hunger, poverty and unemployment, as well as other initiatives.

Charity and voluntary work are integral to the way I live my life, and I’m grateful this is something I’m able to embrace in my professional life too.

Our global corporate responsibility programme, EY Ripples, aims to positively impact the lives of one billion people by 2030. As part of this, each employee is given two volunteer days every year to dedicate to causes they care about. The organisation also actively encourages fundraising (I led on the Red Nose Day campaign for our team) and supports the EY Foundation, an independent charity that supports young people from low socio-economic backgrounds with their employability skills.

This commitment to giving back fosters a real sense of community and purpose, and enriches my life both personally and professionally.

Technology at EY

Technology plays a crucial role in my day-to-day role at EY, significantly enhancing my efficiency and effectiveness. Tools like EYQ (conversational AI assistant) and Microsoft 365 Copilot help streamline administrative tasks and proposals, allowing me to focus more on tax technical advisory work.

By automating routine processes, these technologies reduce time I spend on manual tasks, enabling me to dedicate more energy to providing strategic insights and solutions for clients. This not only improves the quality of the work I deliver but also enhances client satisfaction, as I can respond more swiftly and effectively to their needs.

Why EY stands out

EY stands out from other places I've worked because no two days are the same, keeping me constantly challenged and motivated. The dynamic environment encourages continuous learning and development, allowing me to focus on aspects of tax that genuinely interest me.

Unlike previous roles, where tasks could become repetitive, EY offers diverse projects and opportunities to engage with high-profile clients across various sectors. This variety not only enhances my expertise but also fuels my passion for tax advisory work.
