Joseph Sheffu

Tanzania Country Managing Partner

Driving client centricity, exceeding clients’ expectations, caring for our people and society is, and always remains my priority.

Joseph is responsible for steering all EY business in Tanzania. He also doubles as a Consulting Partner leading the Eastern Cluster Government & Infrastructure (G&I) market segment. 

He has over 27 years of experience acquired mainly from working with EY in the UK and Tanzania. He started his career in civil service with the Government of Tanzania, Ministry of Finance, Exchequer and Audit before joining the consultancy industry. 

As a cluster G&I segment leader, he leads a core team of Partners, delivering business consulting engagements with Multilateral and Bilateral agencies including the World Bank and UN agencies; Development Financial Institutions (DFIs); Governments; regional bodies and international philanthropists (among others); all aiming to promote sustainable social-economic growth and shaping the future with confidence for the citizens of the Eastern Africa and at large.

As CMP and segment leader, he leads key external stakeholders’ engagements, such as representing the firm in regulatory forums and engaging with wider stakeholders including the government, academia, legislators, diplomats and international development agencies and trade associations such as the CEO roundtable, the British Business Group and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM). 

Joseph is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), Tanzania. He holds an MBA from the distinguished University of Oxford, UK; MSc. from Birmingham City University, UK, and MSc. Intelligence and Security Studies from London Metropolitan University, UK.
