In his role as Assurance Managing Partner of Financial Services in Asia-Pacific, Geoffrey has put into practice the art of leveraging a global mind-set and region-specific know-how to drive cross-border finance.
He has over 25 years of experience in audit and advisory services for financial institutions, and has harnessed wide experience in assisting Chinese domestic banks on their initial public offerings.
Based in Beijing since 2002, Geoffrey has assisted China’s largest commercial banks to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and expand overseas by the acquisition of other financial institutions.
Having served as a guide and counsellor to Chinese state-owned enterprises, he has explored new cultures and regulatory regimes, often visiting Chinese bank branches overseas to gather on-site status reports and share best practices.
Geoffrey earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Queensland University of Technology.
How Geoffrey is building a better working world
“I am helping build a better working world by leveraging outreach opportunities and the hard-earned reputation of EY member firms in the markets to extend the benefits of China’s economic growth across borders. The Chinese financial industry has developed in leaps and bounds in the past decade, but worn-out paradigms still have great influence among the media. Through EY, my work extends beyond maintaining the integrity of the financial markets to providing forward-looking proposals for better governance and increased transparency.”
