EY has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Guyana’s next phase of growth and development following the official launch of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo 2027.

At the launch, EY introduced its 2027 conference theme, ‘Advantage by Design’, reflecting the belief that Guyana’s next stage of progress will be shaped through intentional planning, stronger capabilities, collaboration and innovation.

Speaking at the launch, EY Guyana Partner, Gail Marks noted that conversations about Guyana have moved from discovery, potential and possibility to what the country is already becoming, citing growth in business, infrastructure, local capability and confidence in shaping the country’s future.

“Guyana’s next advantage will not happen by chance. It must be intentionally designed,” said Gail Marks. “As Guyana moves beyond discovery and into a period of increasing maturity, the focus naturally shifts from what has been found to how value is created, sustained and expanded. This next chapter is about transforming energy growth into broader economic performance and long-term national development.”

EY’s continued expansion in Guyana reflects its confidence in the country and its belief that the next chapter of development will create opportunities that extend beyond the energy sector. The organization has broadened its capabilities in Guyana and supports organizations across assurance, tax, digital transformation, risk management, data and analytics, cybersecurity, AI adoption, workforce readiness and business performance.

The launch also highlighted EY’s support for the Guyana Future Innovators Challenge 2027, an initiative aligned with the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo under the theme Beyond Frontiers: Guyana’s Energy Story. The challenge is designed to help prepare Guyana’s youth for future opportunities by encouraging STEM and AI education, cultivating an innovation culture, building global competitiveness and developing future leaders.

Sharing details of the Challenge, Christianne de Pass, Associate Director, Brand, Marketing and Communications, EY Caribbean reiterated that human capital and a strong foundation are key in cementing Guyana’s future. “The most important energy resource Guyana will ever develop is not beneath its waters, it is sitting in its classrooms,” she said. “Growth at this pace brings extraordinary possibility, but it also brings extraordinary responsibility. Tools and pipelines can be imported. Talent must be developed at home.”

The Guyana Future Innovators Challenge 2027 is expected to connect youth innovation with national energy sector development, positioning emerging talent alongside industry leaders, like MODEC at Guyana’s premier energy event. The initiative includes competition categories for Grades 7 to 8, Grades 9 to 10 and Grades 11 to CAPE, with groups of two to four members welcomed and mentorship support provided.

The challenge will focus on real industry issues, with proposed thematic areas including predictive maintenance and offshore logistics, environmental monitoring and smart infrastructure, and renewable energy and smart agriculture. These areas reflect the initiative’s mission to build critical STEM competencies, bridge education and industry needs, encourage sustainable innovation and support national development priorities.

“As Guyana continues to grow, sustainable progress will require strong partnerships between industry, government, investors, local businesses, educational institutions and professional services firms,” added Gail Marks. “Platforms like the Guyana Energy Conference bring people together around the conversations that matter most to Guyana’s future, and EY is proud to continue being part of that journey.”

EY congratulates the Guyana Energy Conference team on the successful launch of the 2027 conference and looks forward to the conversations, partnerships and innovations that will build momentum toward the event.
