2024 EY Young Tax Professional of the Year finalists

Over 35 finalists from across the globe will be participating in the 2024 EY Young Tax Professional of the Year competition. For EY, this competition is part of the ambition to foster the next generation of tax leaders. We’ll update this list as more country winners are announced. Congratulations to all the 2024 finalists!

Meet the 2024 finalists 

  • Austria — Tugce Aslan

    Tugce is the finalist representing Austria. She received a bachelor’s degree from Vienna (WU Wien) in November 2020 and will receive a master’s degree in January 2024. Her first work experience was a summer internship with a tax consultancy firm where she worked part-time until taking educational leave to focus on her thesis. From a career perspective, she is interested in both the private and public sectors. She would like experience working in government agencies and trade unions, as well as working as a legal advisor for international companies. Tugce likes to read books, in Turkish or German, and loves nature and walking outside. She also enjoys spending time with friends.

  • Finland — Aino Jalas

    Aino is the finalist representing Finland. She graduated with a Master of Law from the University of Turku in June 2023 and is pursuing an MSc degree in Economics and Business Administration at Turku School of Economics. She joined EY Advisory in October 2023. Her previous experience includes working at a bank, law firms, a Big Four firm and the Finnish Tax Administration. She aspires to work with interesting and challenging topics in an international environment. Aino spent a year as a high school exchange student in the US and studied one university semester in Sweden. In her free time, she likes to run and attend group trainings at the gym. She is fluent in Finnish and English, and speaks some Swedish. 

  • France — Valentin Lesouef

    Valentin is the finalist representing France. He will receive a Certificat d’Aptitude à la Profession d’Avocat (CAPA) degree from Ecole des Avocats du Grand Ouest in October 2023. He works at Ernst & Young Societe d'Avocats in Rennes, France, with the Business Tax Advisory team. He has had several internships where he worked on tax, corporate law, contract law and security law matters. He hopes to become a tax lawyer to support companies and their management, so they act with dedication and diligence. Valentin enjoys sports (tennis, football, basketball, rugby), reading books (biographies, sport, politics, literature), and playing chess. He is fluent in French and English, and speaks some Italian. 

  • Greater China — Raymond Lee

    Raymond, based in Taiwan, is the finalist representing Greater China. He graduated from National Chengchi University with a Bachelor of Law and is currently a first-year tax LLM student at National Taiwan University. As an undergraduate, he was an active member of the Tax Research Association, sparking his interest in international taxation. He was an intern at the Tamsui Office of the National Taxation Bureau of the Northern Area and was a law clerk at a Taipei law firm. His hobbies include singing and playing badminton. He is a violist in a string quartet and enjoys baking chocolate desserts.

  • Japan — Santa Muteki

    Santa is the finalist representing Japan. He is majoring in Sports and Science, a choice fueled by his lifelong passion for sports. He will be graduating from Doshisha University in March 2025 with a Bachelor of Science. Santa wants to pursue a career in finance with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. His long-term goal is to establish and manage a large-scale business, and he believes that knowledge and experience in law, finance, tax and accounting will help. In addition to his studies, Santa teaches English. He says it brings him joy because there’s nothing like witnessing the moment when students finally grasp a concept or respond to a question with confidence. 

  • Nigeria — Moyosoreoluwa Dada

    Moyosoreoluwa is the finalist representing Nigeria. She graduated from the University of Lagos (Nigeria) in 2023 and is a qualified chartered accountant. During her undergraduate studies, she was a tax intern with another Big Four and at a technology-based company focused on digitalizing commerce. She is actively involved in a non-profit organization which focuses on Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 4. Moyosoreoluwa’s long-term career goal is to become a forward-thinking tax consultant, focusing on international taxation, transfer pricing and corporate tax. When she is not studying for exams or reading academic books, Moyosoreoluwa enjoys trying out new recipes, streaming shows and listening to music of all genres. She speaks English and Yoruba, her native language, and is learning French and Zulu.

  • Sweden — Emelie Boberg

    Emelie is the finalist representing Sweden. She expects to receive her master of laws from the University of Gothenburg in January 2024. She works part time at a law firm in her hometown of Värnamo and as an intern at the Ernst & Young AB offices in Gothenburg and Stockholm. She has previously served as Vice President in charge of marketing for the European Law Student’s Association (ELSA) in Gothenburg. Emelie’s main career aspirations are to have a positive impact on people’s lives and to continue to feel challenged by the work she does every day. She would like to have the opportunity to work abroad after a semester in Germany “turned out to be the best four months” of her life. Emelie is fluent in Swedish and English and enjoys riding horses and spending time with friends and family.
