Administrative unit staff strike impacts immigration services

On 6 June 2025, the Colombian immigration labor union began their protest known as “Plan Tortuga” (“Plan Turtle”) last month. As of mid-July 2025, there continue to be significant delays in the handling of immigration processes by the Colombian authorities, impacting border entry and exit, visa registrations and administrative procedures. In addition, an earthquake that struck last month has led to the temporary relocation of the Bogotá Andean Regional Office, which is currently operating at 40% capacity due to infrastructure and staffing constraints. A new office location is expected in the coming weeks, with a return to normal operations expected in the coming month. Negotiations between the authorities and the striking staff continue as of the date of this publication.
