Japan lifts COVID-19 vaccination and testing requirements ahead of schedule

Effective 29 April, inbound travelers are no longer required to get tested for COVID-19 prior to arrival or provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to be admitted to Japan. Individuals who display symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to get tested upon arrival. Those who test positive must quarantine at a designated facility at the discretion of the authorities. The Japanese authorities had previously announced that the requirement to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or test negative for COVID-19 no more than 72 hours prior to travel, would be lifted on 8 May.
