Børge Gjeldvik was working as a project manager on the construction of an oil and gas process plant when he recognized that existing inspection approaches could be safer, more efficient and better suited to increasingly complex assets.
With support from a small group of partners, Børge founded Axess Group in 1998 in Molde, Norway, where the company remains headquartered today. Axess began as a small team of engineers attracted by the chance to work on demanding technical projects while living near the mountains of Romsdalen.
From the outset, the company grew organically and profitably. Nearly three decades later, Axess Group has a team of more than 1,000 people across 34 offices in 27 countries. The company delivers asset integrity management and engineering projects for oil and gas, wind energy, infrastructure, and industrial clients, focusing on mission critical solutions that ensure zero harm and maximize uptime.
Børge’s passion for mountain adventures, where precision, risk management and resilience are essential, has shaped the company’s values, culture and vision. That philosophy, captured in “passion in life, passion at work,” continues to guide Axess as it targets US$1 billion in revenue by 2040 and aims to set a new standard for safer, smarter and responsible operations.
