Mia Drennan has spent more than three decades at the forefront of debt capital markets, shaping the standards, expectations and evolution of the institutional debt landscape across the globe.
In 2011, Mia recognized how traditional institutions struggled to respond swiftly to complex restructurings after the global financial crisis. She introduced a new idea: an independent, “white glove” loan agency and trustee service designed to help creditors recover value on defaulted institutional debt.
That concept became GLAS, a business that created its own category and now employs more than 450 professionals across 10 countries. Under Mia’s leadership, the firm administers more than 7,000 credit facilities and manages over US$850 billion in assets. She has guided GLAS through major milestones, including a partial buyout by Levine Leichtman Capital Partners in 2022 and strategic acquisitions in Paris, Hong Kong and Singapore in 2024 — alongside opening new offices in Dubai, Melbourne and Madrid. Most recently, Mia led the business through their acquisition by Oakley Capital and La Caisse, valuing GLAS at over £1bn.
Her impact has been recognized globally, including the 2025 UNWWO Brand Leadership Award and extensive international press coverage. Before GLAS, Mia built BNY Mellon’s EMEA Trustee and Agency business and held senior finance roles throughout the industry.
