What if there was no longer the need to open multiple apps, browse websites or manually manage inbox?
Imagine an AI agent that scans a person’s emails, recommends responses, tracks companies they follow and delivers a personalized intelligence report every morning. Or one that understands meal preferences, coordinates a group order and completes the transaction on the user’s behalf.
This is the promise that personal AI agents hold. As digital platforms begin enabling agent-led interactions through APIs, the way we experience the internet could change dramatically. Apps may no longer be the primary interface. Instead, AI agents could become the layer through which we access services, view choices, make decisions and complete transactions.
For businesses, this change in primary interface raises an important question. If AI agents become the new digital customers, are our platforms ready to interact with them?
The shift may also challenge established digital business models, particularly advertising and website monetization, which have traditionally depended on human attention and traffic.
