The webcast, co-hosted by EY and IFC EDGE, uncovered key aspects of sustainable real estate, forming the first in an ongoing series aimed at bringing greater clarity to the sector’s evolving landscape.
Setting the groundwork: The session began by establishing why commercial and hospitality developers should act now, highlighting policy shifts, investor pressure, rising tenant expectations and market evidence showing demand for high-performance green assets.
Integration and efficiency: The discussion detailed how developers can embed sustainability across design, construction and operations. Experts covered innovative technologies, high-performance materials and hospitality-specific features that enhance efficiency and guest experience. Participants also gained clarity on the policy and certification landscape (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), and the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC)), as well as on how sustainable finance, such as green loans, sustainability-linked loans and green bonds, can incentivize and scale green building adoption.
Building for success: The webcast explored the journeys of two leading developers in commercial and hospitality real estate, covering their organizational vision, targets and experiences with sustainable financing. They discussed the challenges encountered and the practical enablers that helped deliver measurable outcomes.
