EY hosts collaborative CSR event with Lloyds International and RBC to support local charities

Teams predominantly made up of Next Gen individuals from EY, Lloyds International and RBC came together for a collaborative cross-firm CSR event to support local charities Jersey Eating Disorder Support (JEDS), Jersey Shelter and Kairos Arts in finding innovative solutions to the challenges they are facing.

Each charity gave an overview of the vital work they deliver in our local community, before highlighting real-life challenges they are facing. These challenges varied from raising their profile and fundraising to making the most of available space and resources.

Attendees were split into six groups, made up of individuals from each organisation, to discuss and share their thoughts and ideas on the charity challenge they were presented with. Each team presented their innovative ideas and potential solutions to tackle the problems presented, allowing each charity to select the solutions most appropriate to their needs.

The event was a great success, with charities gaining fresh perspectives and new approaches to their complex challenges through collaboration.

Derek James Leighton, Head of Client, Product & Proposition at Lloyds International, said: “This has been a highly productive event, and together we’ve supported some very worthy local charities. I’m incredibly proud of our apprentices who represented Lloyds and brought fresh perspectives and practical ideas to help address the challenges these charities are facing. Connecting emerging business talent with respected local charities was something I was passionate about bringing to life in Jersey, and I’m proud to have delivered this in collaboration with EY and RBC.”

Kirsty Mackay, EY Assurance Partner who also took part in the event, concluded: “This is the first event of its kind on the island, and we are incredibly proud to work with Lloyds and RBC to bring colleagues from across firms together for something with such meaningful impact. Creating a space where charities can share real challenges and where teams, including those at the very start of their careers, can apply problem solving skills that they will use for years to come is hugely valuable. It also provided the opportunity to build connections with their peers and learn from their shared insights.

“Fresh perspectives, combined with cross firm collaboration has the power to spark ideas that can truly make a difference for these vital local charities. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with these charities and look forward to hosting similar events with organisations who are aligned with our values of supporting charities that are so vital in our local community.”
