EY volunteers spent the day at GROW Jersey, supporting the local community project with practical site work across its growing spaces, biodiversity areas and education facilities.
GROW Jersey is creating an inclusive growing space where people can connect with nature, learn about sustainable food production and improve access to locally grown produce. Bringing together horticulture, education and wellbeing, the project helps islanders develop new skills while supporting a more sustainable local food system.
During the volunteering day, the EY team helped with a range of essential site work, including clearing branchage, preparing the area for a new polytunnel, cutting back docks and thistles, strimming, weeding and mulching teaching beds, and watering fruit trees in the summer heat.
The day was part of EY Ripples, EY’s global corporate responsibility programme, which gives EY people time to support causes that matter to them and make a positive difference. Through the programme, EY employees can take two volunteering days each year to support organisations and projects in their communities.
Sheena Brockie, Co-founder of GROW Jersey, said: “The day was a powerful reminder of what happens when organisations invest in real connection. EY didn’t just show up - they rolled up their sleeves, listened deeply, and helped create a day that genuinely lifted people. It was community in action, and it mattered.”
EY volunteer, Mark Halliwell, said: “This is the third year EY has supported GROW Jersey, and it was fantastic to see first-hand the difference the project continues to make. From improving access to fresh produce to creating opportunities for people to learn, connect and spend time outdoors, GROW has a real impact across the island.”
