Agneshwar Sen is an Associate Partner and Senior Advisor, with EY, specialising in International Trade, Tax, Economic, and Policy Advisory services. Boasting over 30 years of expertise in trade-related affairs.
Before joining EY, Agneshwar was a trade negotiator and a trade official in various branches of the government. He has served at the WTO Secretariat in Geneva as also the Permanent Mission of India (PMI) there.
Throughout his career, he has undertaken pivotal roles within various key departments of the Indian Government, such as PMI to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and the WTO Secretariat.
In the Ministry of Commerce, Agneshwar conducted investigations on anti-dumping complaints, executed trade policy initiatives, and facilitated negotiations on customs duties under multilateral and free trade agreements.
As First Secretary at India's Permanent Mission to the WTO in Geneva, he was a key negotiator for India on Non-Agricultural Market Access (NAMA) goods. He also served as an Economic Affairs Officer at the WTO Secretariat in Geneva, supporting the Committees on the Government Procurement Agreement and the Working Group on Transparency in Government Procurement.
From 1995 to 1998, Agneshwar held the role of Deputy Director in the Trade Policy Division of the Department of Commerce (DoC). In this capacity, he negotiated Regional Trade Agreements and tariff concessions under SAPTA/SAFTA, the Bangkok Agreement, and BIMSTEC. He also provided critical inputs for market access agreements under the WTO, such as the Information Technology Agreement (ITA), tariff negotiations, and matters related to Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).
