Cormac Murphy is the Partner at Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants, Ireland responsible for leading EY Banking & Capital Markets services in Ireland and pan-EMEIA Banking Union team that monitors developments in EU banking since the financial crisis in 2008.

Cormac is the Chairperson of Stratford College, a coeducational multi-denominational secondary school founded by the Irish Jewish community. He is also a board member of Concern Worldwide, Ireland’s largest non-governmental organization (NGO) focusing on ending extreme poverty particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

He currently leads a team of senior professionals in Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants, Ireland, dedicated to advising domestic and international banks on issues around regulation and securing business growth in a rapidly changing financial services industry.

He is a qualified member of the UK Association of Corporate Treasurers and holds a postgraduate diploma in Professional Accounting and B. Comm from UCD. Cormac is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

How Cormac is building a better working world

The banking industry is fundamental to the global economy and has been experiencing a dramatic period of disruption since the 2008 financial crisis. In 2008, Cormac was seconded to the Central Bank of Ireland to help manage the challenges faced by banks in Ireland. Since then, he has been playing a significant role in the efforts to revive the economy.
