Areas of focus

Tom is an experienced technologist, seasoned in applying data science to solve financial crime problems. Building systems, analyzing trade data and providing advice to clients on the use of analytics and technology to survey the markets is core to what he does on a regular basis.

Tom’s background in developing and implementing technology solutions to address financial crime risks gives him a deep understanding of how technology and analytics can be used to prevent, detect and investigate crimes.

For many years, he has focused on capital markets compliance technology particularly around trader surveillance. Tom has investigated some of the largest issues in this area, including Libor and FX, and leverages this insight to support firms trying to avoid these problems again. 

Prior to EY, he worked for a technology vendor, developing and deploying fraud and financial crime detection software.

Tom holds a 1st class BSc in Mathematics from the University of East Anglia.

In addition, he helps clients apply innovative data science techniques to traditional compliance use cases to ultimately reduce the noise and bring insight and value for the business.
