Areas of focus

May is a partner with EY Financial Services Tax practice in Singapore. She has over 17 years of experience as a tax consultant in Singapore. She specializes in providing tax compliance and tax advisory services to clients in the insurance sector (life, general, reinsurers and captive), including tax incentive application, assisting the clients to seek rulings or clarifications with the authorities and regulatory bodies, tax due diligence review and tax controversy work.

She also has four years of experience as an accredited tax specialist in a government agency, where she handled the corporate tax assessment matters of large corporate taxpayers in the financial sector, including insurers and banks. 

May holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia. She is an accredited Tax Advisor with the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (formerly known as Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals).

How May is building a better working world

May actively supports EY corporate volunteerism at work such as Walk for Rice and blood donations. She has also signed up for the RISE Mentorship Programme.

She has also been a supporter of some of the internal transformation initiatives such as making employees’ working lives more pleasurable through work-from-home (WFH) initiatives and the adoption of OneSource which has furthered the firm’s ability to go paperless. She’s proactively engaging GDS in Mercury and process support to improve margin and release professional staff for more value-added work.

May is also actively involved in training and has volunteered to be a facilitator for in-house training sessions.
