China updates visa-free transit policy for certain foreign nationals
Effective 17 December 2024, the Chinese mainland authorities extended the visa-free transit policy to 240 hours (from 72 and 144 hours). The authorities also added 21 new entry-exit ports of to facilitate the movement of foreign nationals. These changes are expected to benefit employers that send impacted individuals to the Chinese mainland for business or other qualifying purposes by reducing the time and expenses associated with admission and increasing the authorized stay period.
