Spain announces new visa requirement for Mauritanian nationals transiting through Spain
Effective 28 August 2024, most Mauritanian nationals must obtain a visa prior to transiting through Spain. This change impacts most Mauritian passport holders transiting through Spain, irrespective of the duration of their transit through the country. These individuals must apply for a transit visa at a Spanish consulate abroad. Previously, these individuals could transit through Spain without obtaining a visa, provided they did not leave the airport transit area.
