EY Thailand’s 2025 Annual Japanese seminar, held on 20 August 2025 in Bangkok, explored the theme of “Mitigating risks in challenging times.” The event attracted 80 attendees and featured four sessions.
Wichart Lokatekrawee, partner in charge of Thailand Japanese Business Group, together with Takashi Ouchida, assurance leader of Japan Business Services at Ernst & Young ShinNihon LLC, made an opening speech to welcome Japanese executives from diverse industries. The first session, Strategic cost optimization and corporate restructuring, delivered by Oraphun Cheng and Kamolrat Nuchitprasitchai, covered tax and cost optimization trends and strategic group restructuring.
Aligning with sustainability trends in Japan and Thailand was the second topic by Toru Anazawa and Hiroya Masuda, which emphasized the importance of management plans for staff, data collection, and systems to address the new sustainability disclosure requirements in Japan and Thailand. The third session by Daisuke Takeshita and Ravipa Torcharoensuthiphol, Combatting fraud and cyber risks, provided insights into fraud cases and risk mitigation measures in Thailand. The last session by Janichta Phumisak and Erika Kosami, Strengthening tax risk management in a dynamic business landscape, presented the current tax risk areas in Thailand and ways to effectively mitigate them.
Participants commented that, “The interactive presentation format was well thought out and easy to understand.”, “The explanation of how to reduce transfer pricing risks was very helpful.”, “The tax and cost control related to restructuring, fraud cases, and tax risk management were particularly useful.”, etc.
At the venue, EY’s Japanese Publication Desk was set up to distribute various EY publications to Japanese client executives. The morning seminar was followed by 19 individual consultation sessions in the afternoon. EY Bangkok’s JBS team, led by Wichart Lokatekrawee, Yupa Wichitkraisorn and Kusuma Vivattanaprasert, has held annual seminars for EY Thailand and EY Japan clients since 2002.
