Martin, based in Sydney, is the EY Asia Pacific Tax Policy and Controversy Leader. He advises clients in relation to the management and resolution of disputes with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and state revenue offices.
Martin oversees the provision of Tax Controversy services by a dedicated team of over 200 experienced lawyers and accountants in 13 countries including China, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining EY, Martin worked as a tax litigator at a leading international law firm based in London.
Martin has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. He is a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.
How Martin is building a better working world
Martin represents clients before state and federal courts and tax tribunals with a particular focus on corporate income tax, capital gains tax, transfer pricing, general anti-avoidance and judicial review of ATO decision-making. He is focused on the efficient and economic resolution of tax disputes and promotes early engagement with revenue authorities as a means of achieving this outcome.
