Finland announces land border closure with Russia to continue until further notice, multiple maritime border crossing points to close as of 15 April 2024

On 4 April 2024, the Finnish government announced that the ongoing land border closure with Russia, which was expected to end on 14 April 2024, will continue after that date until further notice. In addition, the closure has been extended to the border crossing points for maritime traffic at Haapasaari, Nuijamaa and Santio; these ports will be closed to leisure boating effective 15 April 2024. Those who seek to apply for international protection at Finland's external borders may do so at airports, as well as and seaports other than these three.
