On 2 October 2023, the Swedish government announced that it will extend the period of lawful residence status for eligible Ukrainian nationals and residents under the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD) until March 2025. The Migration Agency has not yet provided details regarding how individuals can apply to extend their residence status under the TPD. However, it is expected that impacted Ukrainian nationals and residents will be able to apply to extend their permits online (on the portal of the Swedish Migration Agency) prior to 4 March 2024 using an email address only (i.e., without a Mobile BankID).
